Heroin addict stole shaver to help pay his electricity bill
Richard Mousley, of Uxbridge Street, Burton, also decided to steal a watch from Tiempo, in The Octagon Centre, because staff refused to replace a watch he had bought from there, on which the strap had broken.
The 38-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop when he appeared at Burton Magistrates’ Court.
The incidents took place on November 8 and December 6 last year.
Giles Rowden, prosecuting, said: “The first was theft of a watch from a shop.
“The defendant picked up the watch and put it in his pocket without paying for it.
“I don’t believe it has been recovered.” The second theft was from Asda in Burton.
Mr Rowden said security personnel at the shop tried to stop Mousley when they saw him stealing the shaver, but when he started acting aggressively towards them, they let him leave.
