Ellen Gillette: Limbaugh owes Christians, Obama apology over claims related to ...
Southern women, you may have heard, don't get mad, they get hurt. At the moment, however, this Southerner is pretty durn mad, as my grandpa would say.
Despite being Raised Right (as to correct living, not politics), I've had occasion, more than I would like to admit, to apologize for bad behavior. Most of the time Southerners will readily accept an apology, perhaps because the history of the South requires much forgiveness itself. Not always, but mostly, and sometimes with a "bless your heart." It may take years, but eventually you share a laugh with the person who wronged you and life is suddenly sweeter. I'm hoping for that still, with a few folks.
Private wrongs can be handled privately, but when a wrong is public, a public apology is required. Any Southerner who was Raised Right could tell you this.
You insult your wife, you apologize to her. You insult the mayor at a public meeting, you apologize to the mayor and the entire group. You insult the president on national radio, you don't wait months to make it right.
