Man of Movember is Free Press' Franky
MEN with moustaches became a familiar sight on the streets of Bridlington once more during November, with men growing facial hair in support of male cancer charities.
At the Corner Bar, on Promenade, they celebrated the best taches in the town grown for ‘Movember’ - a charity initiative to raise money for men’s charities - with their ‘Man of Movember’ and ‘Miss Movember’ competitions.
Winner of the ‘Man of Movember’ was the Free Press’ very own multimedia sales advisor Franky Woods, who beat off competition from more than a dozen hairy competitors to scoop the prize.
Franky, 25, has now shaved off his moustache, saying he is relieved that “I look my age again”.
“I’d like to say thanks to all of my adoring fans and everyone who has come up with celebrity lookalikes for me over the month,” said Franky, who won a sash and a medallion.
Mr. Perlut: One reason would be that millennial men have taken to facial hair as a means of expression. The other is the charitable movement around facial hair, with organizations like Movember, ours and events like Mustache March.
