Hair Loss Treatment Website Publishes Extensive Glossary of Hair Loss Terms

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) September 03, 2011

HairLoss.com, the world's most authoritative and unbiased website providing comprehensive consumer information about hair loss and it's treatment, has recently published the largest and most extensive hair loss glossary in print or on the web.

The extensive hair loss glossary defines over 175 terms related to men’s and women’s hair loss conditions and treatments culled from HairLoss.com’s extensive knowledge base of over 600 original articles on hair loss treatments ranging from nonsurgical hair replacement to hair transplant surgery and Chinese medicine to hair loss conditions like Alopecia areata, male pattern baldness and postpartum hair loss.

“Unlike so many other major hair loss websites online today, HairLoss.com’s mission is to provide consumers with education rather than trying to sell them a hair loss solution that doesn’t work,” explains Michael Garcia, Spokesman for HairLoss.com. “To that end, we’ve gone out of our way to provide free services and free online tools that allow consumers who suffer from hair loss to learn more about their condition so that they can make the more informed decision about how they are going to approach their treatment.”

Hair Loss Research- What's New?

It may fly to pieces as a surprise to some that hair loss research has become a field on its own. After all, men accept been losing their hair for centuries and it has become an accepted fact of spark of life. In some societies, bald men may even be considered more attractive than those with lots of hair.

Then again, there are always some people who prefer to keep their locks. In some cases, hair is even tied with self-esteem and confidence. This is why hair loss research has become as important as any full blown health concern. This is despite the fact that hair loss never killed anyone.

Before we try to explore what’s new with hair loss, let’s review what we know first. Most of us are already aware that hair loss in men is actually caused by testosterone turning to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and shrinking hair follicles. In the past, it was theorized that the more DHT in a man, the more likely he was to suffer from hair loss. In recent decades however, it has been discovered that some men may also be more genetically predisposed to hair loss than others. Hence, it is not really the amount of DHT that matters more but the genetic propensity.
