Hair-raising issue

LOSING ones hair due to sickness or treatment can be a painful experience for anyone, especially women.
Yet when one is battling life-threatening diseases such as cancer, harsh treatment like chemotherapy could leave a patient with temporary hair loss.
Some patients take losing their hair badly.
National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) resource and wellness centre head Adeline Joseph said most patients lose their hair as a side effect to chemotherapy, and many patients feared the treatment for that very reason.
Although for some patients, enduring hair loss is a small part of the ordeal, for others it is a very big thing that they even refuse chemotherapy. Its probably vanity but it can leave them traumatised, she said.
