Judge's funeral procession stops at courthouse in tribute
As Patterson's family and friends gathered by the hearse. A bagpiper player "Danny Boy" and then, "Amazing Grace," marching north on George Street and turning east on Philadelphia, around the corner, the music fading as he marched away.Patterson's family and friends released red, white and blue balloons.
York Mayor Kim Bracey, who had attended the service at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ on East Princess Street, watched the ceremony. She said, "This is very appropriate."
York County Register of Wills Brad Jacobs was ushering at a Disney matinee across the street at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center and took time out from the volunteer duty to pay tribute to the judge.
"The respect we all had for the judge, this is a small token of our appreciation," Jacobs said. "We all looked up to Judge Patterson. He was a true gentleman."
