At Fairplex in Pomona, home of the L.A. County Fair. Inspired by television’s popular obstacle course game shows, the 5K race will feature 20 outrageous and challenging obstacles providing fun and entertainment for both competitors and spectators. With more than 55,000 members in San Diego, VAVi has already seen success launching non-traditional adult sports leagues that include kickball, dodgeball and inner tube water polo. The first ROC Race was held in San Diego in May 2011 and had over 6,000 participants. VAVi expects a similar turnout for this inaugural event in the Los Angeles market.
“After the overwhelming success we saw with the first ROC Race in San Diego, we knew we had to take it to Los Angeles, a city where fun and active individuals enjoy crazy competitions and great after parties,” said Latane Meade, president of VAVi. “Today’s popular games shows like Wipe Out have shown us that adults love getting a little ridiculous, and we can’t wait to see what the people of Los Angeles are made of.”
