Jail for shoplifting addict
A FORMER heroin addict shoved £46 of stolen razor blades down his trousers to help pay off a drug debt.
Oliver Wattie admitted five counts of shoplifting and breaching a suspended sentence order when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court .
Matt Dodson, prosecuting, said Wattie was spotted on Tuesday by a worker at the Co-operative in St John’s in Worcester stuffing packets of blades down his trousers.
“He ran out of the store towards the church in St John’s, was pursued and brought back,” said Mr Dodson.
On Tuesday, October 18, he went into the Blacks store in Worcester and took two fleeces worth £79.98.
He left the shop, lifting his bag over the shop’s security alarms, but the alarms rang, and Wattie bolted.
Later that day, at the Fragrance House in Pump Street, he stole a £39 bottle of Hugo Boss aftershave.
