Fast-start table turned on Rockets
A good start can go a long way in determining the victor in football, and the University of Toledo can credit part of its success this season to starting fast. It's something coach Tim Beckman has preached since his arrival, but not necessarily something he's seen his team execute until this year.
In their first eight contests, the Rockets outscored their opponents 91-23, which equates to less than a field goal per game in the first quarter for the opposition.

That pattern came unraveled Tuesday night against Northern Illinois, however, when the Huskies scored 21 points in the opening period, thanks in part to two kickoff returns for touchdowns by Tommylee Lewis.
Down 21-14, the Rockets found themselves trailing at the end of the first quarter for only the second time this year.
